  • Happy Saturday...

I really don't have too much to say today.  Things are just one big roller coaster after another.  It has been a very stressful week.  Jim FINALLY got his waiver so he is able to take a job driving only to learn that the job he's been waiting for/trying for isn't available anymore (they aren't busy now and found that things are working out just fine just the way they are).

The waiver does still offer him more possibilities for driving jobs.  There is one opening available where I work, but there are hundreds who have already applied.  I think it will boil down to who is the closest relative.  He does stand a chance, but I don't know who else has applied.  If it is a "family member" of the owners, he's out of luck.  I haven't heard, but I'm talking to EVERYONE just in case

  • Did they think we wouldn't notice?

I just started a new package of Northern Bathroom tissue.  Yes, I've resorted to posting about toilet paper

The rolls are almost a 1/2" inch shorter in width, so the worn out part of the holder is now showing.  My guess is that it is saving them millions of dollars by shortening the tube and the paper.  Especially since they did not lower the price.

Since I buy "stuff" for a living, I've notice much of said "stuff" is much lower quality and everyone is hoping that you won't notice.  My vendors get miffed when I call them on it.  I know it isn't always their fault, but I'm still paying the same price or more.  Plus I'm being held responsible for the quality of stuff I'm buying.

    Amusing?

  • Just sharing something good...

I got this recipe from spark people and we tried it out last week.  I made the full amount and then divided it and froze the rest for other meals (there's only 2 of us eating here).

    Healthier Scalloped Potatoes

4 cups thinly sliced raw potatoes

    1/2 onion chopped fine

    1 tsp. chopped parsley (optional)

3 tbs. whole grain flour (white works too)

    1/8 tsp. pepper

    1/2 tsp. salt

    1/2 tsp garlic powder

3 tbs. I can't believe it's not butter or equivalent

    1-1/2 cups skim milk

    1. Layer potatoes and onions in casserole, sprinkling flour between each layer. (we did this in 3 layers)

    2. Heat milk and margarine and season with salt, pepper, garlic and parsley.  Pour sauce over all layers.

    3. Bake 1 hour covered at 350.  Remove cover and bake additional 30 minutes.

    Makes 6 servings.

  • Yesterday...

I began organizing my new office space.  They are calling it an office, but it is more like a cubicle with very high walls.  The ceiling is not enclosed and it does not have a door.  I really need to learn to speak softly  Although I'm told that I am much quieter than the last occupant.

I was amused to see that there were a number of designers present who insisted that I could not configure my "office" the way I wanted due to spacial limitations.  However when the trusty ol tape measure came out, they saw it could be done without a problem.  (and these are professionals  )  Anyway, I think rearranging will happen Mon. or Tues. and I should begin my move on Wednesday.

My route to work is also cut off for the next 6 months.  My boss is out recovering from surgery for 6-8 weeks.  It is going to seem like I got a new job  Unfortunately I think it is going to take more than 45 minutes to get to my new job.  1 1/2 hrs. a day on the road was more than enough for me.

  • It happend...

I got my formal eviction notice yesterday from my office at work.  I've learned that I will not be getting the "office" I thought I was.  But I will be receiving one in the back, near the door (coldest spot in the place).  I've been told that I can have a heater as well as rearranging.  So we'll see what happens next.

Today is a big day of undecorating.  I hate this time of year.  It always looks so cold and bare.  Oh wait, it is cold and bare

    Enjoy your weekend!
